Hafnabolti = "BASEBALL" ...Indoor Practices start January 11th. 2009
Welcome to www.hafnabolti.com - the first Icelandic baseball / softball / tee-ball / wiffleball website. For the past 13 years, I´ve witnessed a lot of sporting activities here in Iceland - none, however, related to the game of baseball. As the national tennis coach, I have also had the privilege to work within almost every elementary school in the greater Reykjavík area introducing the sport of tennis and this experience has provided me with a much better knowledge of children´s wants and needs on the playing field. Hence my involvement with children and baseball-related sports today.
The very first baseball club was formed in May 2007 - Reykjavik Baseball and Softball Club. Currently I am touring local elementary schools to both help children experience the game of "WIFFLE BALL," which is basically baseball with plastic balls and bats, albeit not your everyday plastic ball and bat. The WIFFLE BALL company has been in the business og selling high quality plastic balls and bats for over 50 years and there are actually international WIFFLE BALL events held annually. The main idea behind the WIFFLE BALL equipment is to provide a high level of safety during the initial stages of baseball development. We are also using the official glove brand of the MLB - WILSON.
INDOOR PRACTICES START JANUARY 11th. 2009
Come out and enjoy baseball every Sunday morning, from 10am – 12pm with our club. Our main mission is to have fun playing baseball and softball. Sunday´s practices include: throwing/catching drills, hitting sessions against the ball machine, followed by a short game the last 30-40 minutes. If you don´t own a glove – no problem, we have everything you need – gloves, batting helmets, bats, balls and T-stands. These practices are open to anyone 11 years and older.
The cost for indoor Spring practices (from January 11th. til May 17th. 2009) are as follows:
• 5.500 kr. (11-12 year olds),
• 6.000 kr. (13-18 year olds),
• 7.000 kr. (19 years and older)
Included in this fee are the club´s membership fees for 2009.
Practices are held indoors at the Viking Soccer Club (Knattspyrnufélag Víkingur), Traðarland 1, 108 Reykjavik.
